Music Circle by Mrs. AshleyMarch 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 at 10:30 a.m. Babies and toddlers up to age 3 and an adult are invited to a music and movement program with early learning concepts embedded into a fast-paced, interactive format.

What Would Jane Austen Read Book ClubMarch 2 at 1:30 p.m. Adults who are interested in 18th and 19th century literature and the writers who influenced Jane Austen are invited for this monthly book discussion group.

“We Love Our Libraries” with CEO Jackie NytesMarch 2 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to meet with Library CEO Jackie Nytes and express their views about Library service in their community. A focus of the meeting is to gauge where individuals are on their personal digital journey. Joining the CEO will be the Library’s new Manager of Digitization, Meaghan Fukunaga, who will work to develop projects and community collaborations for the preservation and storage of items of local historic interest.

Job Center at the LibraryMarch 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and March 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.In partnership with WorkOne and EmployIndy, the Library presents a free service for unemployed or underemployed individuals to receive one-on-one assistance to enhance their employment skills. The session will focus on job search strategies, interviewing skills, resume development, and instruction on basic computer skills. The Job Center is made possible by The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Born to Read at College AvenueMarch 3, 10, 17 & 24 at 10:30 a.m. Babies from birth until they become mobile and an adult are invited for stories, songs and movement activities. Siblings are welcome to attend and bring a bear or doll to be their “baby.”

Wee Readers at College AvenueMarch 4, 11, 18 & 25 at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers ages 3 – 5 and an adult are invited for old-fashioned stories, songs and movement activities combined with technology such as eBooks, Pleo the dinosaur, and digital cameras.

Toddler Tales at College AvenueMarch 5, 12 & 19 at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers ages 1 – 2 and an adult are invited for stories, songs and movement activities geared just for them.

College Avenue StitchersMarch 7 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Adults are invited to join other knitters and crocheters for a fun social gathering. Attendees can bring their own projects and supplies, but free help and lessons will be available for those who are interested.

Broadway Chess Club @ College AvenueMarch 7, 14, 21 & 28 at 2:00 p.m. Individuals of all ages and skill levels are invited to be a part of this weekly chess club gathering.

Minecrafternoons at College Avenue! March 14 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Teens are invited for a fun-filled afternoon of exploring, building and limitless creativity in the world of Minecraft. The Library will supply the computers, but attendees can bring their imagination and sense of adventure. Call 275-4320 to register.

Superhero Magic ShowMarch 18 at 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages and families are invited to dive into the world of superheroes and super villains during this fast-moving magic show presented by Don Miller. Attendees can discover the world of comic books, graphic novels, and the lore of heroes from the past. Special thanks to Downtown Comics & Closet Space Toys.

Superhero Drawing ClassMarch 25 at 4:30 p.m. Children ages 6 and older are invited to step into the world of drawing superheroes. They’ll learn the basics and experiment with different drawing materials to create their own superhero character. This class is presented by Art With a Heart. Call 275-4320 to register.

Mother Goose on the LooseMarch 26 at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers and an adult are invited for an early literacy program using a variety of activities such as rhymes, songs, puppets and instruments to foster speech development, motor coordination, self-confidence and sensitivity to others.

Minecrafternoons at College Avenue!March 28 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Teens are invited for a fun-filled afternoon of exploring, building and limitless creativity in the world of Minecraft. Shake, Rattle and Roll: Baby Music ClassMarch 31 at 10:30 a.m. Babies up to age 2 and an adult are invited for an interactive program with music, action songs and movement. Instruments such as maracas, bells, hand drums and gathering drums will be used, as well as colorful scarves for visual tracking and movement. The goal of the program is to use rhythm, music and movement to create a caring, connected rhythmic community. The program requires the participation of the caregiver. No older siblings, please.
