Red Line: Construction Update

 In Bulletin, Infrastructure, News

In anticipation of Red Line Construction, IndyGo is providing a “3-Week Look Ahead” for businesses and residents. That being said, MKNA will continue to provide updates as we receive them. Current updates can be found below:

  1. Central Avenue Repaving: Central Avenue is experiencing a complete resurfacing. Resurfacing is nearing completion from 38th Street all the way to Westfield to the North. Once the resurfacing is complete, striping will be completed including center lines and pedestrian crosswalks. This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
  2. Temporary Traffic Calming Measures: A number of measures are being taken by the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works in anticipation of the increased traffic on Central Avenue. Changes include added signals, additional four-way stops, conversions, and more. Utilities poles for those lights/signals are currently be installed along Central Avenue. Lights will not be operational until construction starts on College Avenue which is currently slated for end of the year at the earliest. MKNA will receive a minimum three weeks notice prior to any/all new lights being operational.
  3. College Avenue Water Main: Currently, Citizen’s Energy has procured permits for intersections at College and 42nd, 46th, and 49th Street in order to relocate water mains in preparation for the Red Line. A minimum of one lane will remain open in both directions at all times but neighbors can expect some delays.
