Identity theft and fraud crimes are common, yet difficult to prosecute as suspects are often operating anonymously online and even from foreign countries. Anyone, regardless of age, can be targeted for these crimes.
The program will include a panel presentation with representatives from AARP Indiana, Attorney General Greg Zoeller’s office, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry’s office, and U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly’s office. Each group will tackle a different aspect of this important issue, such as the psychology of victimization, common scams, tips and tools to avoid scams and fraud and resources to protect personal information. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. Questions from the audience will be welcomed and entertained.
Other partner agencies that also work on this issue have been invited to hand out materials before and after the event.
