Longtime Heritage Place Executive Director to Retire
For more than 35 years, Ruth Ann Hankins has been at the heart of Heritage Place of
Indianapolis, Inc. Throughout her tenure, Ruth Ann has worked tirelessly to advance the welfare of older adults in central Indiana through Heritage Place’s unique blend of center-based activities and in-home services. Through strategic partnerships with the United Way of Central Indiana and other groups, Ruth Ann has led Heritage Place’s growth into an organization that has improved the lives of thousands of older adults in our community. Her passion, commitment, and dedication are both infectious and inspirational.
Ruth Ann will retire from her role as Executive Director in mid-2018. “Having a career at Heritage Place has been a wonderful experience,” Ruth Ann said. “From the Board of Directors, to the staff, to the volunteers, I have had the privilege of working alongside many very talented and dedicated individuals. We have worked together for a common purpose—the mission of Heritage Place. Being surrounded by hundreds of successful retirees has provided me with excellent role models for my retirement. Their journeys have helped me to make the decision to take the plunge. I wish nothing but the best for all of Heritage Place.”
Board President Christina Fugate reported that “it is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that we announce Ruth Ann’s retirement. Ruth Ann’s leadership was instrumental in the development of many partnerships with allied associations, agencies and other non-profits that led to the creation and growth of numerous services to older adults. We want to thank Ruth Ann for the many years of highly valuable contributions to Heritage Place, and wish her the very best in her retirement. Ruth Ann will truly be missed by the Board, staff and members of Heritage Place.”
Heritage Place will celebrate Ruth Ann’s many efforts and accomplishments in the months to come as it transitions to its next chapter. Heritage Place will be accepting applications for its next Executive Director until April 5, 2018. The Executive Director provides day-to- day operational leadership, manages Heritage Place’s strategic partnerships, and heads its programming, fundraising, and community engagement efforts in collaboration with the organization’s board of directors.
