SUMMARY:IHM Oktoberfest -- Saturday\, October 1st
DESCRIPTION:One of Meridian-Kessler’s biggest and best neighborhood festivals is coming soon.  IHM Oktoberfest will be Saturday\, October 1st\, on IHM’s campus at 5692 Central Avenue.  All neighbors in Meridian-Kessler are invited and encouraged to attend for a fun and free day in the community! \n  \nThe festivities kick off that Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the IHM Oktoberfest Fun Run.  Both runners and walkers are encouraged to come out for this fun event passing through MK’s tree-lined streets.  Options are available for all skill levels – a one-mile loop\, two miles\, or the full 5k.  Don’t miss the always fun “Catch Father Bob” sprint at the race’s start.  Refreshments\, drinks\, and a reception follow. \n  \nOktoberfest will begin at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 11:00 p.m. Organizers will have live music and neighborhood celebrity DJs on the main stage.  There will be tons of food options.  And this year features new and improved games for kids and adults.  Compete in stein races\, the stein toss\, a wurst throwing contest\, and the liter holding contest.  The event will also feature a Kinder Karneval and a cake walk for the youngers kids.  And Sun King beer will be on tap! \n  \nCheck out the event’s website – https://ihmindy.org/oktoberfest – for more details.  We look forward to seeing the neighborhood on October 1st at IHM Oktoberfest!

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAES Indiana crews and contractors will be tree trimming in the Meridian Kessler area beginning next week.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAES Indiana wants to work with customers to maintain the safety and reliability of electric service. Trees too close to power lines can become a hazard and contribute to power outages. Tree limbs falling on overhead utility lines during storms are among the most common causes of power outages. \nAES Indiana and our contractor\, Lewis Tree\, have certified utility arborists on staff that ensure proper cuts are made on trees\, and the health and life of vegetation is considered.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAES Indiana’s tree trimming contractors will chip debris created by our normal trimming activity (less than 4 inches in diameter) but leave the logs (greater than 4 inches in diameter) stacked at the base of the tree from which they came. These logs are cut to handling length and left for the property owner’s use. If the property owner wishes for log removal\, we ask that they stay on the property for two weeks to complete the cycle in the neighborhood.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Neighbors\, \nThe Senate Utility Committee is holding a hearing about HB1164 on Thursday April 1st at 9am in room 130. This is at the State House\, and there is no virtual option. \nAs a reminder\, HB1164 would largely strip local jurisdictions of control over the placement of 5G cell towers. It would remove any height restrictions\, and as written would require homeowners to pay the telecom company if they wanted to receive a notice if a pole is being installed near their home. HB1164 would not require companies to share equipment\, otherwise known as co-location. Because of the nature of the frequency of 5G waves\, the poles need to be placed in close proximity to each other to function- meaning we could see 3 or 4 poles per block. MKNA is advocating for common sense amendments to HB1164 if not a complete rejection of the bill. We believe that co-location should be required\, local jurisdictions should maintain review and approval authority\, telecom carriers should be required to provide notice to impacted homeowners and neighborhood organizations as well as meeting with homeowners and neighborhood organizations to discuss requested locations for installation. \nIf you are comfortable attending an in person meeting\, this hearing is Thursday April 1st\, at 9am in room 130 at the state house. \n
